Inspired by 1960s and 70s-era art and illustration, Melody’s style evokes retro vibes reminiscent of the bold and colorful time. She works in Photoshop and uses a variety of different techniques layering colors like a screen print. The end result has a slightly photo realistic style, but with vibrant color and prints a little off register.
Rise by Melody Miller started out as a personal 100-day drawing challenge in 2019, focused mostly on drawing flowers. By the end of the hundred days Melody had found a new voice in her drawing style. She created a fabric collection from the drawings, one that celebrates growth and making space for change. Melody created large scale 108″ wide quilt backings to accompany this collection. These bold, beautiful florals are printed on silky 100% cotton sateen.
